EAST BROOMEHILL SCHOOL

In 1917 Alex Thompson stirred the Education Department regarding a school at East Broomehill as there were a number of children of school age in the area.

Children were:
3  R. P. Fletcher
6  R. M. Holmes
7  J. Eastwood
2  N. E. Marshall
3  A. Kiddie
5  R. H. Marshall

Mrs. Loydon of Martinup offered to board the teacher for one pound ($2,00) per week in a separate room 2 miles from the school.

In January 1918 tenders were called for a portable school. A tender was accepted and the building was completed in March 1918. Miss Maude Norman was appointed Head Teacher. The school furniture and stock was delivered by Mr. Fletcher.
